Polycystic Ovary Syndrome

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome

Good day!

A lot of ladies come to me asking for advice about different hormonal issues. One that crops up ALOT is Polycystic Ovary Syndrome or 'PCOS'. PCOS is an inflammatory disorder in which hormones in a woman’s bodies are out of balance.

Symptoms can include:

  • Menstrual irregularities

  • Elevated androgenic hormones (eg: testosterone)

  • Reduced fertility

  • Obesity

  • Excess hair growth on the face/body

  • Acne

So what can you do about it?

  • Reduce stress

  • Exercise

  • Limit sugars and carbs or anything that dramatically spikes blood sugars

  • Consume lots of fiber from different vegetables

  • Include turmeric into diet for its anti-inflammatory properties

  • Herbal tea such as ‘Spearmint’ has been shown to inhibit testosterone

  • St Mary’s thistle clears estrogen from the liver

  • Ditch the dairy and go gluten free – this will reduce the inflammation in your body

Along with healing your body internally, our naturopath recommends using a skin care range that is going to heal your problematic, congested skin.
